Will we see minimum riding weights raised to 50kg? An article by Tim Habel in today's Melbourne Herald Sun reports that the Australia's chairmen of stewards will recommend weights be raised for Group race handicaps, including the Melbourne Cup. The national stewards' conference this week deemed that the limit for major handicap races of 48kg or 49kg was unrealistic.
